This antibody was developed using Glutathione (GSH)-KLH conjugates and affinity purified with antigen-specific affinity chromatography. The antibody is conjugated to peroxidase (HRP) via reductive amination and could be utilized for detection and quantitation of the reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG) glutathione as well as the glutathionylated proteins and peptides.

Scientific Description

Glutathione is a tripeptide. It contains an unusual peptide linkage between the amine group of cysteine and the carboxyl group of the glutamate side chain. Glutathione, an antioxidant, protects cells from toxins such as free radicals. Glutathione can also modify proteins via cysteine residues to form the glutationylated proteins via disulfide bonds. Redox proteomics of glutathionylated proteins, in oxidatively stressed human T lymphocytes, have been reported.
